Karen brings more than 20 years of experience in risk management and insurance across Construction, Oil & Gas, and EPC environments. Most recently, Karen served as Director of Risk Management and Insurance at S&B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd. in Houston, a role she held for eight years. In this capacity, she led domestic and international insurance placements spanning property, casualty, cyber, pollution, and professional liability, while also overseeing OCIP/CCIP program management, contract review, and broker and underwriter negotiations.

Before joining S&B, Karen advanced to Global Manager of Risk and Insurance at Tesco Corporation, where she directed multi country insurance placements and led the department’s operations. Her earlier tenure at Marsh USA included a decade of experience supporting marine, energy, and middle market clients, building a strong technical foundation that continues to shape her approach today. Karen’s insurance career began at Travelers, where she served as an Account Manager in National Accounts, an experience that set the stage for her continued growth and leadership in the industry.

Karen earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston (UH-D) in Business Services Technology and holds three professional designations: CRIS (Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist), CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), and AIS (Associate in Insurance Services). She also serves on the Executive Board of Directors for NAAIA and is a member of the Hartford Construction Advisory Board.
